Literary Submissions at The Playhouse

The Pasadena Playhouse does not accept unsolicited work.

Please note: outside our open submissions period in June (described below), any information sent unsolicited will not be read or even opened, and will be immediately shredded.

Open Submissions Period & Guidelines

Each year from June 1st – 30th, we accept submissions of new plays and musicals from local, national, and international playwrights, lyricists, and composers to be considered for inclusion and growth in our HOTHOUSE at The Playhouse program.

Due to the volume of submissions and for your work to be considered please send us the following:

-a one-page cover letter including your biography as a playwright, a brief synopsis of the piece, and any previous readings, workshops, and/or productions;
-a character list, including doubling if there is a large cast and how you see the doubling, and;
-and 10-page sample of what you feel best represents your work. It can be the first ten pages, the last ten pages, or five and five from somewhere in between, but we challenge you to find the essence of you as a writer and your piece!
-If you are submitting a musical, please send a demo CD with no more than 4 minutes of music.

Open submissions must be post-marked by June 30th and mailed to:

The Pasadena Playhouse
Attention: Literary Submissions
