 SUMMER THEATER INTENSIVE

Workshop Performance - July 21 at 7 p.m.  



The Playhouse will bring Broadway professionals to the Pasadena area to provide practical training and quality theatrical education in music, dance and theater. The two-week intensive will feature faculty and industry professionals whose goal is to inspire young artists to develop their creative potential. 

Classes & Performances take place at Farnsworth Park (568 Mount Curve Ave., East Altadena)    

*Tuition: $1,000  (for two-week intensive)

FEATURED INSTRUCTORS 

   Paul Canaan

Recently performed in and a dance captain for the Tony award-winning Broadway musical Kinky Boots. Other Broadway credits include Legally Blonde, Miss Saigon, Thoroughly Modern Millie, La Cage Aux Folles and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Also, the MTV series "Legally Blonde: The Search For Elle Woods" where he served as a judge alongside casting director Bernie Telsey and writer Heather Hach. He appears in the film Sex And The City 2 and Across the Universe. He performed in the New York Radio City Christmas Spectacular and the national tour of Annie Get Your Gun. Regionally he's been a dance captain at Paper Mill Playhouse in Camelot, Robert Redford's Sundance Theater, Fords Theater, and many more.

His passion for education in the arts inspired his non-profit organization ‘Take It From The Top’ with partner Laura Bell Bundy. He works with the Broadway League of Producers as a judge for The National High School Musical Theatre Awards (The JIMMYS). He also proudly served as the artistic director of Broadway Dreams Foundation for 5 years.

Broadway: “Amber Von Tussle” in Hairspray, “Elle Woods” in Legally Blonde (Tony Award nomination), “Glinda” in Wicked. TV: "Cold Case," "Veronica Mars," "Home Improvement," "Malibu Country," "Becky” on "How I Met Your Mother," “Shelby” on "Hart of Dixie," and "Dr. Jordan Denby" on "Anger Management." She also played the disgruntled teen “Marah Lewis” on "Guiding Light." Laura Bell’s film work includes "Dream Girls," "Jumanji," "Life  with Mikey," "The Adventures of Huck Finn," CMT’s first original movie "To The Mat," "Watercolor Postcards" and  Hallmark’s "Dear Dumb Diary." Laura Bell’s 2010 album on Universal Records, "Achin’ and Shakin’" with her breakout hit “Giddy On Up” which reached #31 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Charts.
