Teen Design Intensive |

October 14 — December 2

Working with members of the Playhouse Production Department, students will learn the fundamentals of theatrical design. Lessons will include script analysis, intensive workshops on scenic, lighting, costumes, and sound with Playhouse design alumni, studio time to work on their own creations, as well sneak peeks backstage to observe the build and tech rehearsal processes at the Playhouse. The class will culminate in students presenting designs for their very own production!

Bonnie McHeffy (Teaching Artist)

Bonnie McHeffey is the current General Manager at Pasadena Playhouse, bringing over a decade of experience in professional stage management to her role. A graduate of Fordham University with a degree in Theater Design and Production, Bonnie specialized in stage management while also exploring costume design throughout her studies. Her journey in theater has spanned both backstage logistics and the broader producing landscape, giving her a comprehensive understanding of the artform’s intricacies. Bonnie’s true passion lies in dramaturgy, particularly within the American Theater tradition, where direction and design choices are as vital to storytelling as the performances themselves. With her background, she offers a unique lens into how production elements coalesce, shaped by years of collaborating with a wide range of designers and directors. Her work reflects a deep appreciation for the interconnectedness of all theatrical choices—no detail is ever inconsequential.

“What is Your Cancellation Policy?”

If participants cancel at least ten (10) days before the start of that class or camp, they may receive a full refund.
Participants cancelling between 9 -1 days before the start of class or camp may receive a 50% refund.
No refunds for classes cancelled the first day of a class or camp, or anytime after the class or camp has started.
Refunds are issued through our Box Office (626-356-7629). When cancelling a class, please also email education@pasadenaplayhouse.org with your student’s name, the name of the class/camp you are cancelling, and the start date of the class.

“What is your Absence policy?”

Each student is allowed 2 absences for the duration of class (barring illness, pre-planned travel, or emergencies).
