Audition Info

Audition instructions:

All applicants for the Advanced Session must submit a video audition that includes a personal introduction as well as the audition criteria in 1 video (can be edited together). Please be mindful of all instructions, especially posted time limits.

1. PERSONAL INTRODUCTION (1 MINUTE)

  • State your name, age, and the name of your school.
  • Tell us about 1 meaningful arts experience you have had and why it was special.

** Do not read from a script. We are more interested in discovering your personality than hearing prepared answers.

2. AUDITION

  • Sing one musical theater song (30 – 90 seconds). This can be a song from a role you played in a show, or your favorite musical theater song for a role that you’d like to play, or just a song you’ve learned for audition purposes. But it must be from a stage musical. It cannot be a song from a movie, a pop song, or an original song.
  • You must sing with an accompaniment track. This can be a piano accompaniment that someone recorded for you, or a track you found online. But you cannot sing over the cast recording or any track with pre-recorded vocals; nor can you sing a capella.
  • You must have the lyrics of your song memorized. Please do not use printed lyrics or read lyrics from a device, like a phone or iPad.
  • If you’d like, you can also include one of the following supplemental performances:
    • 60 – 90 second monologue OR
    • 60 – 90 second performance of dance in any style you are comfortable with. A TikTok is fine!

** Please keep the total time of your video to 4 minutes or under. This 4 mins should include your personal intro (1 min), your musical theater audition song (30 – 90 secs), and your supplement performance (30 – 90 secs), if any.

THANK YOU, AND BREAK A LEG!
