Playhouse Singers: A Musical Theater Community Choir Fall 2026  | 

Ages 18+

Vocalists ages 18+ will explore the joy of showtunes, learn harmony and ensemble singing techniques, and develop confidence in their voices. This choir experience builds community and collective effervescence, culminating in a lively concert for family and friends on December 14. Whether new or returning, all singers are welcome to join in the fun!

This year, there are 4 different class offerings. Find the one that fits best for your interest and skill level or sign up for more than one!

Playhouse Singers Ensemble is a NEW audition-based choir for experienced singers who can read music. This group may find opportunities to go out and sing at community events. The innagural session is 10 weeks.

Playhouse Singers: Intermediate/Advanced is a fast paced 10 week class is best for participants who can read music or are at least very skilled at learning by ear. You will be working on complex, 4-6 part harmonies from the beginning. 

Learn to Read Music is a 3 session primer for those in any Playhouse Singers section who wish to dive into basic music theory and understand how to read sheet music

Playhouse Singers: Beginner is a slower paced, 6 week class that involves singing in unison ands simpler harmonies. Reading music is not required, but be ready to learn some musical terminology!

Adam McDonald (Teaching Artist)

Adam McDonald received a Bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University and a Master’s degree from The Boston Conservatory, both in classical piano performance. He has been a part of five national tours, most notably spending eight years with WICKED, where he eventually took over as music director. Making the move to Los Angeles to pursue both theatre and film, Adam has continued his theatre work at The Pasadena Playhouse, The Pantages, La Mirada Theatre, Pageant of the Masters, and was the rehearsal accompanist for Lion King Live at the Hollywood Bowl. He has scored short films, co-composed, orchestrated, and vocally arranged a musical – MOMologues the Musical, and scored a documentary play for The Boston Public Library, amongst other commissioned compositions. As an educator he serves as Music Director for Marlborough School, music directs the junior high and senior high summer programs at The Pasadena Playhouse, has a private voice studio, and is a vocal clinician at Disney’s Imagination Campus.

“What is Your Cancellation Policy?”

  • If participants cancel at least ten (10) days before the start of that class or camp, they may receive a full refund.
  • Participants cancelling between 9 -1 days before the start of class or camp may receive a 50% refund.
  • No refunds for classes cancelled the first day of a class or camp, or anytime after the class or camp has started.
  • Students should have no more than 2 planned absences from their class or camp.
  • Refunds are issued through our Education Registrar (626-344-8979). When cancelling a class, please also email education@pasadenaplayhouse.org with the student’s name, the name of the class/camp you are cancelling, and the start date of the class.
