On Friday, October 13, from 6:00- 10:00PM, the Playhouse will host free workshops throughout the evening on improvisation, acting and play readings as part of the fall edition of ArtNight – a free evening of art, music, and entertainment spotlighting the bevy of culture and excitement the city of Pasadena has to offer.

About the Instructor: Sari Rose Barron
For the last 13 years, Sari has overseen and developed the program VOICES UNHEARD, which partners with ASCAP and theater companies to offer an innovative arts outreach program to youths in under-served areas and juvenile camps. Most recently she partnered with The Pasadena Playhouse to bring THE LYRIC PROJECT to the community, a production based on a lyric-writing program working with Pasadena students to bring their lyrics to life through music for an audience. This program originated with Reprise Theatre Company, Jason Alexander, and ASCAP where she co-created and Associate Directed FREE STYLE at the Ford Amphitheater.
Sari is also currently the Los Angeles Program Director for The Johnny Mercer Foundation and implements songwriting programs at LAUSD schools, The Braille Institute, The Children’s Hospital, and the California Division of Juvenile Justice.
She previously served as Education Director both for Reprise Theatre Company and for Musical Theatre West. She has worked around the country in low-income communities creating and implementing arts programs through songwriting, drama, movement, and spoken word for at-risk youth and foster youth, including in New Orleans, Detroit, Philadelphia, New York, Atlanta, Long Beach, and South Central/Compton/Watts. Sari is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, holds an M.S. in Counseling from CSUF and B.F.A. in Theatre and in Criminology from NYU Tisch School of the Arts.

NY Theatre Credits: Fallen Angel (NYFringe Festival Outstanding Musical Winner), Fallen Angel (Bay Street Theatre), Forty (Theatre for the New City, Off-BWAY), TV/Film: ED (NBC), Sunset Players Musical Web Series, The Awkward Stage, Wolves, and a cabaret in affiliation with BRAVO TV. Member of SAG and AEA.
