Deep within a magical underworld two skeleton friends, a Dodo and a boy, are unexpectedly plunged into a wave of transformation that shatters their established order. The two friends must flee, fighting to stay together as they are drawn into the heart of an epic battle between life and death.

Infused with puppetry, humor, and stunning visual effects, Dead as a Dodo is a “ceaselessly inventive” (The New York Times) musical odyssey for all ages about survival, transformation, and the power of true friendship. Audio Description

Join us for our Access performance to take advantage of the audio description service. The service includes verbal descriptions of actions, costumes, scenery, and other visual elements of the production and is designed for patrons who are blind or have low vision. Guests may request a listening device to hear live audio descriptions. Audio description is available in all seating locations on the Orchestra level of the theater. If you would like to hear the pre-show notes, please be in your seat 15 minutes before showtime.

Preview week Wednesday ticket holders are invited to come early and enjoy complimentary wine and cider prior to the show at Pasadena Playhouse.

Childcare Matinee

Pasadena Playhouse is making it easier for parents to come to the theater by offering onsite childcare during the 2 PM performance of Dead As A Dodo on Saturday, February 20, 2027.

Children ages 5 through 12 will enjoy a theater workshop with trained teaching artists onsite at Pasadena Playhouse while parents enjoy the performance. Age-appropriate activities inspired by the play will allow kids to explore their creativity and introduce them to the world of theater.

With a CHILDCARE MATINEE MEMBERSHIP you get to experience the 2026/2027 Season while your children ages 5 through 12 enjoy a theater workshop with trained teaching artists onsite at Pasadena Playhouse. While you enjoy the performance, age-appropriate activities inspired by the play will allow kids to explore their creativity and introduce them to the world of theater.

Starting at $312 per adult and $100 per child, ($78 per adult ticket and $25 per child for all 5 shows) you’ll get all the perks of being a Playhouse Member.
